Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the new home of the Beta Rho Chapter Crescent! The 2025 Executive officer team is excited to reestablish the twice annual newsletter of the Chapter. Though this is a new medium for the Chapter Crescent it is our hopes to continue to adapt and improve our communications with you our Stakeholders and supporters. Stay tuned for more publications and opportunities to come.

It has been several years since the Chapter has published a written update and have since lost knowledge that was once passed along. This means we will lean on you to provide suggestions, advice, and constructive criticism as to the content, topics, and styles we use publish. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

On to the Chapter:

Recruitment

The Fall of 2024 was an exciting time for the chapter. The year was off to a quick start as the Chapter's Formal recruitment started before the beginning of the school semester with all the 7 IFC Chapters and the Panhellenic chapters meeting for a Greek Social. Over the last four years the IFC Fall Formal Recruitment has seen several revisions prompted by university regulations community suggestion. This year the council settled on a week and half long recruitment which provided the Chapter with an opportunity to meet the Recruitment class of almost 100 men in 2 all fraternity events, 2 fraternity specific open invite events, and the Chapter Smoker. The Chapter decided to extend 12 bids to incoming freshman. All 12 men accepted the invitation to join. One of these men did decide to leave the university to pursue a job opportunity and the Chapter supported this decision sending him off with our support and good wishes.

Brotherhood

The Chapter continues to evolve the brotherhood program every year as it adapts to the Vice Noble Rulers of Membership Development's focus and the National Fraternity curriculum. Even over the 35 years some tradition never change and this year the Chapter was excited to carry on the tradition of working with the Phi Mu Chapter at Northwest to bring home First place prizes in the Float and Jalopy competitions during 2024 Homecoming Week. As you well know the work of building and pomping these monstrous entries involves long hours of planning and work, but this year the chapter was well rewarded. This year the Chapter also celebrated a second place award in the Variety show for a skit we preformed in partnership with the Sisters of Sigma Alpha Sorority. We owe much of our success to the sisters of both sororities and they tend polish out our rough edges. We look forward to continued success with these organizations in the coming year.

Another activity the Chapter participates in is the Ag Department sponsored Celebrate Agriculture Week. This 2022 initiative by the Ag Department Faculty provided a the Chapter and the other Ag Organizations to celebrate the most important Industry in the State of Missouri. Through out the week (usually in November) the Chapter participates in competitive events hosted by each of the Ag Organizations. Some of the Chapter's Favorite events are the soup and chili cook off, the Career Networking Night, and the Friday BBQ Competition. Though we did not take home any of the big awards, the Chapter enjoyed the competition and the opportunity to connect with our counterparts outside of the Chapter and spend hours collecting Food for the local food bank.

On a note closer to home the Chapters brotherhood program does provide a brothers only experience. Over the last few years the Chapter has invested heavily in these experiences through the conversion of the room 10 (Back deck NW corner, by the basement stairs) into a threat room with a projector and the a very nice fire pit donated by an undergraduate's parents. We now use that theatre room projector for New Member Classes, small group meetings, and of course movie night. The House is an intricate part of facilitating the Brotherhood program and so we wish to extend a very huge thank you to the Alumni Brothers who were dedicated to the continuation of the Brotherhood started in 1988 and all of its supporters of the 35 years!

Recognition

Our Brotherhood Program is supported by 4 pillars of those the one pillar that should never wain is that of Recognition. While the Scholarship, Recruitment, and Brotherhood of a chapter might face head winds it is important to remember there is no end to the list of people to recognize for their contributions. We would like to extend a many thanks to these Brothers for their hard work and dedication to our local fraternity.

From the Noble Ruler Hayden Beccard

Brothers though I have been in office for a short period it has been a whirlwind of planning and preparation for the coming 2025 year and I am excited to see what the Chapter accomplishes in the coming year. I am always just a phone call away and look forward to meeting you all at Pink Rose in Omaha and collaborating over the coming year as we endeavor to BUILD BETTER MEN! The spring will be busy with plenty of work to complete for the Green & Gold Classic, our philanthropy week, Family day, Greek Week, and all the fun in between. Until next time, stay up to date through our the chapter Facebook group.

Fraternally,

Hayden Beccard, 664
